Be bold – blast boundaries – be the future

Red Hat Forum Austria 2020, held in Vienna in late January, brought together IT experts to discuss state-of-the-art solutions with a focus on innovation. Another important topic was the question of promising new technologies and to what extent open source can provide the right conditions for dynamic and efficient solutions to meet increasingly complex tasks.

Red Hat brings together a community whose aim it is to achieve bold business goals using innovative technologies. The forum was defined as an “open source” event, so to speak, making it possible to experience the fantastic stories of the other participants and to share one’s own experiences.

“Companies that invested early in technologies such as containers, Kubernetes, microservices and DevOps have managed to increase their market share or achieve business goals up to eight times faster.”

— Martin Klaus, Senior Director of Red Hat Cloud Platforms

Examples such as Emirates NBD, which went live with a chat banking solution on WhatsApp within two weeks, HCA Healthcare, which developed a predictive analytic algorithm to detect sepsis risk, or Lufthansa Technik, which introduced a real-time operation analysis system, are only some cases to illustrate the many different possibilities.

cloudWerkstatt presented the topic of automation. Alexander Bartilla, Senior Consultant DevOps & Cloud, and Sascha Dirbach shared their extensive practical know-how with the public in a breakout session called “Automate all the things – one step from bare metal to containers”.
